Learning Services Consultant
Ed Morris
With three decades of experience in the geographic information industry, Ed Morris teaches a broad range of ArcGIS courses. He specialises, in particular, in technical topics that draw on his detailed knowledge of the Python scripting language and image processing techniques.
Over recent years, he has authored a number of standard and bespoke courses ranging from “Using the ArcGIS API for Python” to “Writing Advanced Geoprocessing Scripts for ArcGIS Pro.” Before becoming a full-time trainer, Ed was a consultant in Esri UK’s Professional Services team, having previously worked in the local government sector.

Paul Satchell
A highly experienced trainer, Paul Satchell delivers standard and bespoke courses in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and web application building. He is also certified to perform TAP-accredited Learning Needs Analysis assessments that help organisations and users identify their knowledge gaps and find the most appropriate training resources.
Alongside his role as a trainer, Paul is involved in the Esri UK Building Information Modelling (BIM) and 3D GIS working groups. Prior to joining Esri UK, he worked in the defence, environmental, and higher education sectors, delivering spatial information products and training services.

Alan Sampson
In more than thirty years at Esri UK, Alan Sampson has held a variety of roles and developed a reputation as an expert in geodatabases and data automation. He now shares his long experience in these fields and deep technical knowledge with customers as a trainer, delivering courses on subjects such as ArcGIS Enterprise, data management, mobile working and content sharing.
Alan is also responsible for managing Esri UK’s virtual training environment, which enables customers to participate in hands-on exercises and have a positive experience during training courses.
“As trainers, we present, we demonstrate and then we facilitate activities. It’s very interactive! Expect to get involved in lots of hands-on exercises on a virtual machine, so you can really try out what you are learning and build your experience, with our support.”

Colin Willers
Colin draws on more than forty years’ experience of using Esri’s GIS technology when delivering his training sessions. He primarily leads introductory courses for people who are newcomers to ArcGIS, but also provides specialist training in the ArcGIS Crime Analyst extension for customers in the police and defence sectors.
Prior to joining the Learning Services team, Colin had a long and successful career as a GIS consultant, advising a wide range of organisations. Brought up in Kenya, he initially worked as a land surveyor and created maps from aerial imagery on projects across Africa and the Middle East.

Paul Hickson
Based in Northern Ireland, Paul delivers virtual training from Esri Ireland’s Holywood office in County Down. He has an in-depth knowledge of the ArcGIS system, which was thoroughly put to the test in his previous role as Technical Support Lead for Esri UK.
Prior to that, he worked as a consultant for Esri Ireland, supporting a wide range of public and private sector organisations. He began his career teaching teachers how to use technology in geography lessons and currently coaches a youth Gaelic football team.

Guenter Grimm
Guenter has worked as an ArcGIS trainer for over 20 years, authoring and delivering a wide portfolio of courses. He has particular expertise in delivering ArcGIS Pro training, as well as more specialised courses on tools such as the ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript, the ArcGIS Network Analyst extension, Sweet for ArcGIS and ArcGIS Experience Builder.
Prior to joining Esri UK, he was a senior training consultant at the SAS Institute. He first used GIS as a biology student and carried out GIS-based research as part of his studies in biogeography at Oxford University.

Kathryn Turvey
Kathryn is responsible for all learning programmes for Esri UK and Ireland’s customers. In this role, she provides advice and guidance on the wide range of standard and bespoke training courses that are available, as well as the free learning resources that customers can access via the Esri Academy.
She has worked for Esri UK for over 15 years, having previously held a variety of other training, sales and customer support roles within the business. She began her career at a large IT reseller, selling hardware and software to the finance industry and public sector.
