There have been significant enhancements to NImapWeb, a free-to-use mapping interface for Northern Ireland. This online service further improves accessibility to mapping and GIS capabilities for organisations that participate in the Northern Ireland Mapping Agreement (NIMA). Presented by John Hewitt Regional Manager, Northern Ireland and Eamonn Doyle, CTO ESRI Ireland, the webinar attracted registrations from Government Departments, Councils and educational institutions who are signatories to NIMA. The Webinar included a live demonstration highlighting the new user interface, a new continuous pan and zoom capability; a number of alternative renditions of BasemapNI; new, clearer cartography in full colour; the ability to include thematic content; dockable windows; additional content, spatial bookmarks, along with some thoughts and ideas around the future direction of NImapWeb 2.0. In addition, the re-engineered the NImapWeb 2.0 application utilises the very latest in Cloud Computing from Amazon thus introducing a whole new level of availability and performance to the application. If your organisation is signed up to the NIMA agreement, you are free to visit the site at www.nimap.net
