Cookstown secure NImapEnterprise for Corporate GIS

2007-07-24

Within a couple of weeks of its launch Cookstown District Council has, in open competition,  selected “NImapEnterprise” as the platform on which to build their corporate Geographic Information environment.

NImapEnterprise is a product and services solution bundle exclusively available from ESRI Ireland to Northern Ireland Councils who are participating in the Northern Ireland Mapping Agreement. “The adoption of GIS within any organisation can be daunting.  There are many complex decisions to be made about software, ongoing management and maintenance of mapping datasets, understanding the real business benefit of geographic information and ensuring the appropriate skill levels of staff. NImapEnterprise addresses all of these issues in a cost effective bundled solution demonstrating clear value for money”, remarked Paul Synnott, Head of Sales at ESRI Ireland.

“NImapEnterprise bridges the gap between using geographic information at a Departmental level and putting this information at the heart of the organisation where everyone in the Council can begin to use it” commented Barry O’Hagan, ICT Manager for Cookstown District Council. “We are looking forward to working with ESRI Ireland to help us apply geographic solutions to underpin and address the developmental challenges being faced by Local Government in Northern Ireland” continued Barry.

NImapEnterprise builds on the success of both the NImapWeb (www.nimap.net ) and NImapDesktop solutions and now provides a clear path for Councils under NIMA to put in place corporate level GI at an attractive cost.  NImapEnterprise includes, a centralised spatial data repository, desktop software, Intranet web mapping applications, training and a GIS scoping study to help define the strategic direction for GIS within the Council.

Paul continued “Local government throughout Ireland and the United Kingdom is working towards meeting government-imposed deadlines for the delivery of on-line services. In particular authorities are being encouraged to innovate in terms of how they work and deliver information and services to both their employees and customers (the citizen). “NImapEnterprise” will help Cookstown District Council address the issues associated with this changing landscape and we look forward to developing and nurturing a solid strategic partnership with them,” he concluded.
