ESRI Ireland Launches NImapDesktop - The Power of Desktop GIS at your Fingertips
2007-02-07
In August 2006 ESRI Ireland released NImapWeb (formerly www.nimap.net) in support of the Northern Ireland Mapping Agreement (NIMA). NImapWeb is a “free to use” web based mapping interface providing access to all of the mapping datasets available from Ordnance Survey of Northern Ireland under NIMA. NImapWeb has been extremely successful and is now encouraging more organisations to consider the use of geographic information and mapping within their respective businesses. In support of this consideration ESRI Ireland has today launched NImapDesktop.
NImapDesktop is a bundled solution of software, data and services designed to enable Northern Ireland organisations participating in the NIMA Agreement become quickly productive with geographic information systems (GIS). The adoption of GIS within any organisation can be daunting. There are many complex decisions to be made about software, availability of data and skill levels of staff. NImapDesktop offers a solution to these problems for organisations that see the benefits GIS can bring but are inhibited by this apparent complexity.
NImapDesktop is a “quick start” bundle incorporating everything you need to get up and running with GIS. It is available to all participating NIMA organisations and will help you make the most of your new capability to access all OSNI base mapping and orthophotography. It incorporates certified training and skills & knowledge transfer to end users. So whether they are a new user or have used GIS in some other form, eligible organisations will obtain an appropriate level of learning which ensures that they will leverage the optimum level of investment from the Northern Ireland Mapping Agreement.
