National Roads Authority (NRA)
2007-01-25
ESRI Ireland is pleased to announce that the migration of the National Roads Authority GIS to the ArcGIS platform is fully operational. This project has consolidated the previously diverse GIS platforms in use at the Agency to an enterprise GIS platform running on ArcGIS using MS SQL Server.
The NRA now have a single consistent GIS system accessible across all their divisions and by all their staff. More people within the Authority are now utilising GIS technology as part of their day to day work. The task of managing the GIS database has become far more efficient as a result of deploying the ArcGIS solution. The number of desktop users has risen and the delivery of information to all users via the ArcIMS site is now a much more effective approach than previously.
“This was an excellent project for us” commented Eamonn Doyle, Chief Technology Officer, ESRI Ireland. “We were able to deploy all the elements of the ArcGIS platform, the Geodatabase, the Internet Server and the professional Desktop, to provide real business benefit to the Agency”
Brendan Kennedy, GIS Manager at the NRA commented “Considering the future trends of the GIS industry, the ESRI Ireland solution enables the NRA meet the ever increasing data demands placed on government agencies (The INSPIRE & Noise Directives), and will also enable us to be at the forefront in delivering our GI data to the public at large”.
