The Challenge

  • Open data is fast becoming an imperative for all government organisations in the Republic of Ireland. This means local authorities are under greater pressure to make more of their data open.

The Solution

  • Roscommon County Council turned to geographic information systems (GIS) technology to help it push through these challenges. Using Esri's ArcGIS Online service they were able to develop a brand new channel for delivering open data.

Benefits

  • Roscommon County Council now has a simple means of publishing data in a range of standard formats, making it easily accessible to anyone.

"ArcGIS Online makes it very easy for councils to create and maintain an Open Data Portal."

Barry Doyle, GIS Officer, Roscommon County Council
