Fingal County Council

Fingal is officially Ireland’s fastest growing county and the area of Dublin undergoing the greatest expansion. It now makes up 5.6% of the national population.

This map demonstrates the mapping of noise pollution in Swords. Noise Maps are produced using powerful software that uses colour zones to indicate the level of predicted noise exposure to indicate the level of predicted noise exposure over a geographical area. This software calculates noise levels on data from various sources.

In this example, each colour represents a difference of 5 decibels. Noise modeling the entire county is a major undertaking in data acquisition and integration. As well as collecting and modeling more data the work also entails developing robust databases for land use traffic flow density & population density.
