ArcGIS Publisher Extension

ArcGIS Publisher is an extension to the ArcGIS Desktop products (ArcInfo, ArcEditor, and ArcView) that lets you easily distribute and share your geographic information system (GIS) maps and data with anyone.

Use it to create Published Map Files (PMFs) that can be viewed, explored, or printed by anyone with the free ArcReader application.

What information is contained in a Published Map File?

Published Map Files (PMF) contain instructions about the location and symbology of data layers (rendering rules, scale dependencies, etc.) including geodatabase connectivity, Internet connections, and Geography Network layers.

Can I edit a Published Map File with ArcReader?

No, ArcReader cannot author or modify the published maps. ArcGIS Publisher and ArcMap, (ArcView, ArcEditor or ArcInfo) are required to edit PMF files.
