GIS Consultant – Esri Ireland Professional Services (Ref:GIS2016_03)

Location: Dublin, Ireland/ Belfast, Northern Ireland

We are seeking to recruit high calibre GIS Consultants to join our growing Professional Services team. Esri Ireland’s Professional Services support our customers and partners in the effective implementation and application of GIS solutions based on the ArcGIS platform. We do this by using our people’s knowledge, knowhow, skills and expertise to deliver superior value through a unique blend of customer focused services delivered on a world class, market leading brand, which when brought together will ultimately drive customer success.

Services include: 

  • Business Process Analysis and Business Value Assessments 
  • Functional & Non-functional Requirements Gathering 
  • System Design and Solution Architecture (On-premise, Off-premise, Hybrid)
  • Software, System & Solution Installations 
  • Geospatial Infrastructure Support, including full managed Services 
  • Spatial data management, analysis and loading
  • 3rd Party application integration
  • On-site and Off-site project delivery
  • Bespoke Application Development 
  • Database Development and Analysis (SQL Server, Oracle & PostgreSQL)
  • Project management (Prince 2, ATERN)
  • Knowledge & Skills transfer (On-site and Off-site)
  • Systems, Solutions, Applications and Performance Testing

We are especially interested in people with some or all of the following skills (or has a keen interest in building a career that involves these):

  • Experience of the configuration and deployment of the Esri product set, including ArcGIS for Desktop, ArcGIS for Server, ArcGIS for Mobile, ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Web Application technologies
  • Python Development experience
  • FME Development experience 
  • Experience with JavaScript, Java or HTML
  • Working knowledge of web application server such as Apache Tomcat
  • Working knowledge of Relational and Spatial Databases 
  • Experience of completing tasks to achieve time, cost and quality targets
  • An understanding of the capabilities of GIS and its application in real world situations to provide business solutions
  • Excellent customer facing skills, including the presentation and demonstration of potential solutions.
  • Good facilitation and communications skills, including business/requirements analysis
  • Effective team work through building close partnerships with fellow professionals and customers
  • Be organised and planned in your approach to work and have strong time management skills
  • You should be customer focused striving to supply the customer with a solution that meets their needs
  • To be able to take initiative and provide innovative application of the GIS to help our clients succeed
  • Good commercial awareness 
  • An understanding of wider GI industry trends and understanding of specific GI industry domains 
  • Strive for professional & technical excellence and have a strong desire to learn new skills and develop your career
  • Experience in a solutions delivery/professional services environment and be able to demonstrate an ability to manage the conflicting demands that this position presents

The following skills and knowledge would be an advantage, however, training will be provided in the appropriate technologies where required:

  • Software implementations (config, install, testing, data transfer)
  • Have experience with server management and network configuration
  • Have experience in a Managed Service provision environment
  • Experience around cloud based implementation and/or Managed Services
  • Possess the ability to solve problems and diagnose technical errors
